Lato Boutique Hotelour review and getting there from Heraklion Airport

A four-star boutique hotel at 15 Epimenidou street, facing the Venetian harbour and the Koules fortress, about 15 minutes from Heraklion Airport. Its rooftop restaurant is one of the best tables in the city.

Our verdict

Great value for a harbour view in central Heraklion and an easy 15-minute ride to the terminal. Pick a harbour-facing room; there is no pool.

Lato Boutique Hotel from Heraklion Airport

The hotel is at 15 Epimenidou, a short walk up from the old harbour. A taxi from Heraklion Airport takes 10–20 minutes and costs about €20–25; the city bus to the centre plus a five-minute walk also works if you travel light.

What the hotel is like

Lato is a design-led four-star with rooms on several floors; the harbour-facing ones look straight at the Koules fortress and the fishing boats. There is a small spa area with a hot tub and gym but no pool. The rooftop restaurant, Herb’s Garden, opens in the warm season and is worth booking even if you are not staying.

Who it suits

City breakers, couples and anyone on a first or last night who wants to be in the middle of Heraklion rather than in the airport district. Families wanting a pool should look at the GDM Megaron or a resort.
