Heraklion Airport services: what you will (and won’t) find

Heraklion Airport covers the basics, not much more: wifi, ATMs, cafés, duty free and two Filoxenia lounges. There is no hotel inside the airport and no left-luggage office in the terminal, so plan around that.

At a glance

Heraklion Airport services and facilities

  • Wifi

Free wifi across the terminal, usually with a time limit per session. Fine for messages, weak for video calls in summer.

  • Lounges

Filoxenia lounge on the Schengen side (near A gates) and on the non-Schengen side (near B gates); paid entry or cards like Priority Pass.

  • ATMs and exchange

Bank ATMs in arrivals and departures. Decline the dynamic currency conversion and pay in euros.

  • Luggage

Trolleys are available inside the terminal. No left-luggage desk: use a storage shop in Heraklion city.

  • Shops and duty free

Hellenic Duty Free after security on both sides, kiosks for snacks, papers and travel bits.

  • Assistance (PRM)

Free help for reduced-mobility passengers. Request it through your airline at least 48 hours before travel.

  • First aid

First-aid service in the terminal. Pharmacies are in town, 10–15 minutes away.

  • Lost property

Lost in the terminal: the airport’s lost property. Lost on the plane or a delayed bag: your airline’s handling desk in arrivals.

  • Smoking

No smoking inside the terminal (Greek law). Smoke outside on the forecourt, away from the doors.

Heraklion Airport wifi

Connect to the airport network and accept the terms page; there is no password. It is free but often slow in the B-gate area at peak times. If you need reliable data on landing, an EU roaming SIM or an eSIM bought before you fly works better.

Lounges at Heraklion Airport

Two Filoxenia lounges, one on each side of passport control. Paid entry booked online costs about €59–60 for three hours (2026), and access through Priority Pass and some premium cards is listed, subject to space. The full details, including opening hours and what is inside, are in our Heraklion Airport lounges guide.

Luggage storage near the airport

There is no left-luggage office inside the terminal. If you check out at noon and fly at night, use one of the bag-storage shops in Heraklion city centre (book online, a few euros per bag per day), then go to the airport by bus or taxi.

Smoking at the airport

Smoking is banned inside the terminal under Greek law, airside included. Smokers go outside to the forecourt before security. Cigarettes are sold in duty free and at kiosks.
