Where to park at Heraklion Airport

Follow the “P / Parking Area” signs as you approach the terminal: the car parks are on the other side of the access road, a short walk from the doors. Take a ticket on entry and pay at the machines or the exit booth (card or cash). In July and August the closest rows fill up by midday; allow 10 extra minutes to find a space.

Picking someone up?

Park for 20–30 minutes rather than circling the kerb: traffic police issue fines at the drop-off lane, and arrivals from non-Schengen flights can take 40 minutes to come out.

Is parking or a transfer cheaper?

For a weekend, parking wins. For a week or more, compare: from Heraklion city a taxi each way costs about €40–50 in total, less than a week of parking, and a return transfer from Hersonissos is in the same range as seven days in the car park.

Tips for parking at the airport

  • Take a photo of your row number: the car parks look alike after a week away.
  • Keep the entry ticket with you, not in the car: you need it at the pay machine.
  • In July and August, arrive 10 minutes earlier than planned to find a space.
  • Collecting someone? Check the live arrivals board first and park instead of circling the kerb.
